Plowing Moon

Moonahakiilhswa ‘Plowing Moon’ is the first agriculturally named month of the lunar year. This is an important month when we start plowing and planting our main agricultural crops. Corn is planted in this month so that it will be ready for its harvest seasons of green corn and final harvest. At final harvest, corn is processed in specific ways to eat, to store for winter, and to provide next season’s seeds for planting.
