The month of tahkinkamiaahkwa kiilhswa ‘Cold Water Moon’, is named for the cold water coming from the groundwater springs created by melting ice and snow seeping into the ground and surrounding streams and rivers at this time of year. It also marks the beginning of the transitional period of meeloohkamiki ‘it is spring’, between the seasons of peepoonki ‘it is winter’ and neepinwiki ‘it is summer’.
