During the month of moocapinka kiilhswa ‘Resting Moon’, we are resting from coming out of the winter. Depending on how well the previous year’s harvest and hunts went, it may be a time of rest and recovery (as it is today with long, harsh winters). It is also the time to make preparations for the upcoming summer of agricultural planting, summer hunts, and much more. This preparation can include many things like: preparing fields and gardens for planting, making and repairing (structures, tools for planting, harvesting, and hunting), and gathering wood for cooking fires. Rarely truly idle, this time of preparation makes sure that next month’s work is uninterrupted.
